FAQ

Is it safe to paste client data into ChatGPT or Claude?

Not by default. IRS Publication 4557 and the FTC Safeguards Rule require you to protect taxpayer data. Strip identifiers, use business plans with data-training opt-outs, and document the use in your Written Information Security Plan (WISP).

Can ChatGPT or Claude replace tax research tools?

Practitioners on r/taxpros report using general assistants for drafting and summaries, and tax-specific tools such as Blue J, CoCounsel, or Bizora when they need authoritative citations. Always verify against primary sources.
